| Geocaching is one of the newest and fastest growing sports/activities in the world. Small containers containing a log and sometimes trading objects are hidden around the world (but never underground), and their coordinates (latitude and longitude) recorded and published on the internet at www.geocaching.com “Geocachers” use their GPS units to find the location of the cache, sign the log, and trade for an object in the cache if they’d like. |
 |
They then log their find at the same geocaching website to keep track of their “finds”. Sometimes they leave an object called a TRAVEL BUG which has an attached dogtag and a specific mission which is included. The travel bugs are NEVER kept but logged and then taken to another cache so they can continue their journey. New cachers should not take travel bugs until they have read all about them at the geocaching website. If you go to www.geocaching.com and put in your zipcode, you will see a listing of dozens of geocaches hidden in your location. Read about the rules of geocaching, get a free account registering your code name (you never use your real name to sign the log), and join the fun!
